John Warren MD – My Story 13 January 2025

I am an 82-year-old retired physician. I trained at Cambridge and The London Hospital Medical College, qualifying in 1966. I was appointed a consultant physician at Princess Alexandra Hospital Harlow in 1975, in general and respiratory medicine. I was diagnosed with pernicious anaemia in about 1993. I will describe the gradual onset of puzzling symptoms that defied my own diagnostic skills. Since diagnosis I have managed my own treatment, and found that the recommended maintenance dosage of vitamin B12 was not sufficient to keep me symptom free.
Attendees are invited to come prepared. Prepared to tell your own history about how your symptoms started, when you noticed them, and how you managed to get a diagnosis or had to start treatment on your own.
