Professor Bruce Wolffenbuttel

We’re absolutely delighted to present one of the great doctors and researchers in Vitamin B12 deficiency, a pillar in CluB-12, professor Wolffenbuttel.

Bruce introduced his talk with Clinical Insights on B12 deficiency, highlighting its under-researched nature despite its clinical significance. He shared four clinical cases, illustrating the diverse presentations of B12 deficiency and the challenges in diagnosis and management. Bruce emphasises the importance of monitoring patients’ symptoms and adjusting treatment as needed, noting that biomarkers may not always reflect the severity of deficiency. He also discusses the natural history of B12 deficiency, showing how symptoms can develop gradually over time.
